Omihi Hills is a boutique winery that aims to produce fine quality wines for all to enjoy. It is located in the Waipara region of North Canterbury in the South Island of New Zealand. Waipara is one of the fastest growing wine areas in New Zealand with over 80 vineyards. The area is well known for its alpha climate and so its ability to produce fantastic Pinot Noir, Riesling and Chardonnay.
Omihi Hills wine is created from hand-picked grapes grown in two ecologically sustainable vineyards. Omihi hills is the mature vineyard below the winery that was planted with Pinot Noir grapes in 1986 and also grows some Chardonnay grapes. Omihi Crossing, a younger vineyard, planted in 2000, grows Pinot Noir and Reisling grapes. The unique environments of our Estate Vineyards are ideally suited for the production of premium quality Pinot Noir, Reisling, and Chardonnay wine.
While many New Zealand wineries strive to produce intensely fruity wines with a bold influence from oak, Omihi Hills pursues a refined style of wine that possesses subtlety of flavour, softness of texture, and a harmonious balance that is further enhanced by its partnership with food.
The Omihi Hills Vineyards were established to produce expressive wines from the limestone rich soils of Omihi, Waipara. Hand tended in the vineyard from pruning to harvest, the wines are made following traditional methods to allow maximum expression of these special sites.
